What it does
Ella is an emergency contraceptive pill that is used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or after failure of another birth control method. It works by preventing or delaying the release of a woman's egg from the ovary (ovulation). It may also prevent the attachment of the woman's egg to the wall of the uterus (womb). This medicine should not be used as a regular birth control method.

Side effects
Cramps, heavy bleeding, abdominal or stomach pain, headache, nausea, unusual tiredness or weakness, and dizziness.
Overdose
If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center right away. US residents can call their local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Symptoms of overdose may include severe nausea and vomiting, sudden/unusual vaginal bleeding.
